Gables Honored by Columbia County, NY Chamber of Commerce
Bezalel Gables Fine Catering & Events was recently nominated as one of the Most
Promising New Businesses in Columbia County, NY (2005) by the Columbia County
Chamber of Commerce. Out of the hundreds of new businesses that began in the
county over the past year, this prestigious honor was bestowed on only three of
them.
“We were incredibly flattered to be acknowledged by a panel of the most
prominent business leaders in our community for this coveted award,” stated
Bezalel Gables’ Executive Chef, David James Robinson. He continued, “Being

Birthday Celebration of Legendary Food Author, Irena Chalmers
Bezalel Gables Fine Catering &
Events, the
Hudson
Valley’s
pre-eminent new catering company that specializes in luxuriously handcrafted
foods from the
Hudson
Valley
and Berkshires, catered a major birthday celebration for cookbook author and
food legend, Irena Chalmers, on July 2, 2005.
Ms. Chalmers, a professor at
the esteemed Culinary Institute of America in
Hyde Park,
NY,
is also the recipient of the Julia Child Award and an author of over 100
cookbooks, whose books have collectively sold over an astonishing 18-million
copies.
At the fete for 75 in
Kingston,
NY
was Milton Glaser, the artist best known for the I
Love
NY
logo, and a number of culinary experts from the CIA and the surrounding area.
The extensive menu, including
passed and stationary hors d’oeuvres, featured entrees of grilled leg of lamb
with homemade lavendar/mint jelly fresh from the garden and lentils with black
summer truffle, cherry-smoked quail marinated in merlot and homemade seafood
saffron paella with lobster, scallops, mussels and chorizo. In addition there
were three single-colored salads in bright red, green and yellow.
The evening culminated in the
presentation of a custom cake in the shape of a stack of Ms. Chalmers’ books,
complete with a champagne toast and hand-dipped dark chocolate/raspberry
truffles. The buffet was complemented by an arrangement of 70 roses in varying
shades of pink -- Ms. Chalmer's favorite color.
“We were delighted and honored
that Irena, with her consummate food skill and expertise, asked us to oversee
the menu creation and execution for this very special night. Everyone commented
that they really loved the food and the service, and that’s what matters to us,”
commented David James Robinson, Executive Chef of Bezalel Gables.
